Phil Spencer was recently interviewed by Jez Corden of Windows Central and tackled many questions that the Xbox community have been thinking about recently. At the top of the article, Phil Spencer clarified that there are no current plans to bring Game Pass to competing consoles, stating “I’ll start by saying we have no plans to bring Game Pass to PlayStation or Nintendo. It’s not in our plans.“
Tim Stuart, the CFO of Xbox, had recently stated that Xbox had goals of bringing their content and subscription services to any and all screens with gaming capabilities.
This quote began another round of discussions on whether Xbox was heading towards becoming more of a third-party company. However, in the interview Phil makes it clear that this does not mean Nintendo and PlayStation screens, at least not for now.
Whether this stance changes or not in the future is certainly up for debate, but for now, if you are someone who wants to use Game Pass on a console, you’ll need to own an Xbox.
