Marvel Rivals is a 6v6 Overwatch-style hero fighter

NetEase has just unveiled Marvel Rivals their upcoming 6v6 Overwatch/Paladins style hero PVP title.

Yet another Marvel video game has been announced. Marvel Rivals is slated to appear on PC as a free-to-play title featuring over a dozen Marvel heroes, and destructible environments as two teams of six fight against each other online. Turtle Beach’s website has a list of every character available in the initial PC-only playtest. They are:

• Doctor Strange
• Groot
• Iron Man
• Loki
• Luna Snow
• Magik
• Magneto
• Mantis
• Namor
• Peni Parker
• Rocket Raccoon
• Scarlet Witch
• Spider-Man
• Star-Lord
• Storm
• The Punisher

During the Announce Trailer, there was a focus on the team-up skills. Characters like Rocket Racoon and Groot can team up for superattacks. We also saw Hulk throw some radiation toward Iron-Man who used it for a green-powered ultimate ability. Marvel’s own website describes the title as:

” Marvel Rivals is a Super Hero team-based PVP shooter! Assemble an all-star Marvel squad, devise countless strategies by combining powers to form unique Team-Up skills, and fight in destructible, ever-changing battlefields across the continually evolving Marvel Universe! “

This is just the latest in a large number of Marvel IPs that have had games announced for them. Xbox’s Arkane Lyon is working on a Blade title. Skydance Studios is working on Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, starring Captain America & Black Panther. EA is working on both an Iron Man and Black Panther title, and mobile stores on iOS and Android are littered with games featuring Marvel IP.
