Halo Season 2 is pulling in a lot of viewers

‘Halo’ on Paramount+ has faced a lot of turmoil following a lengthy development cycle to bring the show to life. The shows first season was a success for Paramount+ but faced vocal fan backlash. Season 2 has largely improved on the first seasons shortcomings and also seems to be pulling in the viewers to match the shows’ quality improvement.

According to Nielsen, which tracks hours watched for content across multiple streaming services in the US including Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Disney+, Paramount+ and more, the Halo show has been one of the most viewed “original” pieces of content following the premiere on February 9th.

During the week of February 5-11, ‘Halo’ was the third most viewed original show with 354 million total viewing hours. The following week, from February 12-18, the show dropped to fourth on the list but rose in total viewing hours with 458 million hours across the seven day span. It is worth pointing out that ‘Halo’ is competing for time on this list with many shows that have released all of their episodes at once, whereas the Halo show has opted to release one episode per week with the last episode of the season slated for March 21st.

These numbers make it clear that, at least so far, ‘Halo’ is a huge ratings hit for Paramount+ and has found an audience who consistently tunes in despite what might be portrayed online. The show has yet to be renewed for a third season, but with the numbers that are being put up, it feels all but inevitable for that to be confirmed sometime in the future.
