What are the 7 Best RPGs in Game Pass

Roleplaying Games, a vast genre covering many styles of gameplay, graphics, stories, and scope. In this list, we’ll try to do the impossible task and list of What are the 7 Best RPGs in Game Pass.

So many genres

The first thing I feel I need to state is that there are a LOT of different types of RPGs. One may prefer the isometric, turn-based PC style. Others are all about first-person games like Bethesda makes. Any list like this will be heavily swayed by the subjective, and I’m a shooty boy.

#7. Dragon Age: Origins – Ultimate Edition (2 sequels available as well)

An old-school choice to start, Dragon Age: Origins was originally released on the Xbox 360 and is available in Game Pass Ultimate via EA Play via BC on console and the EA app on PC. I adore this CRPG (computer RPG) from Bioware and recommend it to anyone into those types of games. An excellent story is married with solid gameplay that holds up to this day.

#6. Wasteland 3 (2 more entries available on PC and Console)

I might be biased, as Wasteland 3 was the first embargoed review I ever did for Xbox Era. I stand by my love of the game though, ugly as it may be. The writing, plot, and gameplay are some of the best tactical-focused turn-based CRPG goodness of all time, and it’s a blast in co-op.

#5. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (entire series available on PC, 3 and up on console)

The grandaddy of ’em all. One of if not the best selling RPGs of all-time. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is one of my favorite games of all-time. While the main story is “fine” the side content, exploration, and mod community around it are some of the best ever. While the Game Pass PC version can’t dot he script-extender you still gain access to a lot of in-game approved mods as well.

#4. Fallout 4 (Entire series available on PC, 3 and up on console)

Bethesda took over the franchise with Fallout 3, a solid game though not the best RPG. After Skyrim’s success Bethesda was riding on high and hit one out of the park, i.m.o. with Fallout 4. Fan sentiment varies depending on the time of day but after a recent new-gen patch and the excellent first season of the TV show the series is the most popular it has ever been.

#3. Fable II (Entire trilogy available on console)

As a massive fan of the Fable trilogy, Fable II is the one I always want to go back to. With its immersive world, rich story, and impactful choices it stands out as one of the best 1st party games that Xbox ever produced. I remember loving the game’s customization, and gameplay best out of all the titles. Fable III may have been more technically competent but it never hit the highs of II.

#2. Starfield

Starfield is one of my favorite games of all time. Released to initial critical success it saw a concerted effort over time to drag it down. Less focused on “walk in a direction” exploration, Starfield is a mash-up of multiple excellent systems, and one of the prettiest titles of all time. Seriously, if you haven’t played the game since it launched they fixed issues with the lighting system that make things shine. Add in some excellent shooting, a great story, and a stellar soundtrack and I stand by my review.

#1. Mass Effect: Legendary Edition

Is it cheating to put a trilogy compilation on here? Sure, but Mass Effect 1, 2, and 3 could all top this list for me by themselves. Mass Effect is one of the greatest accomplishments in entertainment history, and if you haven’t played it make it #1 on your backlog to do so. The Legendary Edition does an excellent job of fixing issues with the first title as well.

So there you have it. Our list of the 7 Best RPGs in Game Pass. It’s an impossible task, and a wholly subjective one so sound off in the comments about what your top RPGs on the service are, no fighting!
