All-digital Xbox Series X shown in leaks

Exputer has shared the first images of what they purport to be the all-digital Xbox Series X

After first reporting the White all-digital Xbox Series X in February, Exeputer has now posted images of the unit online. It appears to be the standard-looking Xbox Series X chassis without the slot for a disc drive.

This goes against the “adorably all digital” variant that was shown in accidentally leaked inter-company marketing slides in mid-2023.

According to Exeputer’s piece, the system will be similar to the current Series X but potentially in a lower price bracket. Outside of a change to the heatsink, they say that no other major changes are planned. That would mean that the previously discussed Cylinder in the above image may not have been fully funded for research and development.

Phil Spencer has talked before about Xbox and if they will shift to an all-digital future. He stated:

“We are supportive of physical media, but we don’t have a need to drive that disproportionate to customer demand,” he told me.

“We ship games physically and digitally, and we’re really just following what the customers are doing. And I think our job in running Xbox is to deliver on the things that a majority of the customers want. And right now, a majority of our customers are buying games digitally.”

“But I will say our strategy does not hinge on people moving all-digital,” he said. “And getting rid of physical, that’s not a strategic thing for us.”

  1. It all comes down to price.

  2. The all white is ugly, but still looks much better than the PS5. That is ugly in colour and style. They should have made it the same as the Surface matte silver.

  3. Same as it is now.

  4. Wonder why it’s not any smaller even though it’s all digital.

I’d prefer the adorably all digital cylinder !

  5. don’t have to change molds and the covers they sell still fit

  6. Good point

  7. This is a good response to the people (like me) who don’t like the white.

  8. I figure it would have been the same, but a missed opportunity to make it shorter and call it the Xbox Series X Short King Edition.

  9. looks not very adorable
