Bethesda Game Studios are the development team behind Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, and their latest franchise, Starfield. Games like ‘Skyrim’ defined a generation and have become iconic in the wider pop culture landscape, and their next game, The Elder Scrolls VI, is highly anticipated.
The Elder Scrolls franchise began with ‘The Elder Scrolls: Arena’ on March 25th, 1994. That was 30 years ago to the day of this writing, and to celebrate, Bethesda shared a post celebrating the past and future of the series.
Fans of the franchise have been eagerly anticipating the long-awaited ‘The Elder Scrolls VI’ ever since the game was officially announced back in 2018, and it’s safe to say with how long games take to make now that there will be at least a few more years of waiting. With that being said, in their post celebrating 30 years of the franchise, there was a small tease of the next entry.
Bethesda confirms that development is officially underway for The Elder Scrolls VI and mention that the team is even playing early builds of the game. They specifically mention that even early on, they are still “filled with the same joy, excitement, and promise of adventure” when returning to Tamriel, the fictional world The Elder Scrolls takes place in.
Whenever The Elder Scrolls VI does finally release, it will be releasing as one of the most anticipated games of all time. The last core entry in the franchise was Skyrim all the way back in 2011, and fans have been eagerly awaiting a new game for many years.
The game will be the first game in the franchise that will have released after Bethesda Game Studios joined Xbox in 2021. It is safe to say that The Elder Scrolls VI will be one of if not the biggest game launches in Xbox’s history as a publisher.
