Toys For Bob has reportedly reached a deal with Microsoft for the mega publisher to fund the studios’ first game since becoming independent following Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision-Blizzard-King. This report comes from our friend Jez Corden of Windows Central, who writes that he has heard the game described as “similar to games Toys for Bob has made in the past.”
Toys For Bob was once thought to be a very valuable studio that would join the Xbox family of studios following the completed acquisition of Activision-Blizzard-King in October of last year. However, the studio recently announced that they were going independent and would be leaving the mega-publisher to pursue their own interests.
In a post on their own website last month, the studio explained their reasonings for becoming independent and also hinted at this seemingly done deal with Microsoft.

To make this news even more exciting, we’re exploring a possible partnership between our new studio and Microsoft. And while we’re in the early days of developing our next new game and a ways away from making any announcements, our team is excited to develop new stories, new characters, and new gameplay experiences
It is currently unclear what the game will be and if it would be utilizing an owned Microsoft IP or something completely new. Whatever the game ends up being, Toys For Bob is an incredibly talented studio and will likely be a game that is special if given the proper resources.
