Good news for Minecraft fans! The new ‘Chase The Skies’ update brings with it a ton of new features, in addition to the new Minecraft ‘Vibrant Visuals’ – and it’s all releasing tomorrow!
Minecraft ‘Chase The Skies’
Announced back in March, the Chase The Skies update is bringing with it a whole host of new features for fans to play with. First up, players will be able to obtain their first flying mount, by locating a ‘dried ghast’ block in the Nether. You’ll be able to craft one too, and per the latest Minecraft blog post, all you’ll need is ‘ghast tears, and a soul sand block‘. Once you have your block, leave it in water to see it transform into your own pet Ghastling.

Other new features include a player location bar to help keep an eye on where your friends have got to in the overworld. The developers have also added leads, so you can leash mobs together, as well as mounts or even boats together, and saddles to making riding your mounts a little more comfortable – and stylish!
Minecraft ‘Vibrant Visuals’

The other big ticket item is the previously revealed vibrant visuals. This is the first big graphical overhaul for Minecraft since the ill-fated and ultimately cancelled Super Duper Graphics Pack. Per the latest Minecraft blog, “Vibrant Visuals is initially only releasing on compatible Minecraft: Bedrock Edition devices, this is just the first step, and we plan to bring Vibrant Visuals to Minecraft: Java Edition in the future. For those who like to dive into Marketplace content, please be aware that Marketplace Add-Ons, Skins, and Persona items will work with Vibrant Visuals, however, Worlds and Texture Packs won’t be compatible with the new mode at the time of launch.”

It’s also worth noting the supported devices, seen below – and heads up, splitscreen multiplayer is not supported with the vibrant visuals update. “The game will switch to Fancy or Simple rendering if multiple players are joined locally. “
Supported devices for Vibrant Visuals include Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Android, iOS, and PC.
- Android: Adreno 640, Mali-G68, Mali-G77, or Xclipse 530 or higher
- iOS: A12 or M1 or higher
- PC: Running Minecraft on DX12
