Users on Reddit have noticed PlayStation symbols for two players in Age of Empires 2 DE.

A Reddit post has found that two users, The Finrod Felegund, and TheHobbalution are showing PlayStation logos on their team identifiers. Both players are legit and can be found in the game’s online scoreboard database.
This would back up reporting this year by Tom Warren of the Verge. He stated that ‘Project Latitude’ was still going strong, with Age of Empires 2 DE and Age of Mythology: Reforged as candidates to be ported to PlayStation. This would not be the first time Age of Empires 2 would launch on a PlayStation console. AoE II: The Age of Kings came to the PlayStation 2 just over 20 years ago.

We reviewed the title back in 2019, stating:
“Let’s be clear on this one: Age of Empires was – and is – one of the best strategy games ever made. Ensemble Studios (Rest in peace) has achieved one of Bill Gates’ original goals with the 1999 release of this now beloved title. That lofty goal?
That people can learn about history through entertainment.
And indeed, all these years later, everyone who has played Age of Empires II knows of Joan of Arc (Jeanne d’Arc) as well as other historical figures. I’d imagine this percentage will probably be a lot lower for people who haven’t played the game.’
The definitive edition of Age of Empires II has been made with a lot of love and care for the original – the nostalgia it creates in itself is almost a form of time travel. The passion Forgotten Empires and Microsoft have for this title really shines through. Though there are some performance issues, which hampers the experience a little bit, overall this is a remaster done the right way and fills me with hope for the eventual release of Age of Empires IV.”

Many players have rightly complained that this game is just another generic base-building mobile game with a very weird opening backstory (an armored princess teams up with Joan of Arc to find a missing Roman sword that was stolen by the Mongols). Of course, AOE 2 and 4 had distorted Joan of Arc’s history in more subtle ways by showing her fighting, which she herself had contradicted (during the fourth session of her trial when she said she stayed out of the fighting and carried her banner instead, confirmed by numerous eyewitness accounts); and she also denied calling herself a commander since there was always a nobleman in command. I suppose at least a completely invented story about a missing Roman sword is at least better than a form of historical falsification that people might accept as valid.
