There’s a new Halo Mega Bloks Game to play (Kinda)

Project Haggar was cancelled, but now it's back for you to play

While Halo games are few and far between nowadays, there was always talk of exciting spin-offs and experimenting in other genres. One of those was the infamous “Project Haggar”, a new Halo Mega Bloks game from back in the 360 generation that utilised the lego-like license. It never saw the light of day, despite footage being available online.

That’s all changed now however, thanks to a talented group of individuals – Itchy.7, Zoephie and Spark, who have worked together to produce a playable build of the project, utilising a emulator named Xenia.

The build was highlighted by well-known Halo YouTuber MintBlitz, and as you can see from his video, it looks pretty fun indeed. It features several missions, split-screen co-op, building mechanics and other fun nods to Halo gameplay.

Ex-343 Studio Head Bonnie Ross commented on the Halo Mega Bloks Game back in 2017, stating it was an “exploratory Xbox 360 project” that unfortunately never saw the light of day. Her full statement on the Halo forums (now defunct):

Over the past few days, footage has recently made the rounds of an exploratory Xbox 360 project we worked on several years ago, known as ‘Haggar’. Since then, we’ve recieved lots of great feedback from the community. Haggar was something we prototyped with our friends at Mega Bloks that focused on elements of action, exploration and user creativity found within the Halo Universe. Haggar has a lot of fun ideas and invention behind it, but ultimately didn’t progress beyond the early prototyping levels that are shown in the recent video. This is just one example of several similar projects we have evaluated throughout the years – a process that we continue exploring on an ongoing basis.

If you wanted to try Project Haggar for yourself, there’s a description on how to play it in MintBlitz’s video. You’ll need a PC to do it though!

Stuck on this god-forsaken island. Father of two, wishes he could play more games but real life always gets in the way. Prefers shorter and often smarter experiences, but Halo is King.
