The ‘Console Wars’ Kickstarter is complete – here’s what’s next.

Well, you did it. You made Console Wars The Card Game a reality. As the campaign draws to a close, with over 600 backers and at 150+% backed, I now get to make the game and ship it to all of you.

So now comes the waiting part, but worry not – the journey doesn’t end here.

Late to the party?

First of all, if you missed the noise XboxEra been making over the last month, and didn’t get a chance to try the game at Gamescom, I’ve got you. I’ve enabled Late Pledges on the Kickstarter campaign, so if you’re interested, you can still back it, and importantly, you’ll get it when it starts shipping to all backers.

I’ve also chosen not to increase the cost like a lot of other Kickstarter pages do when it comes to late pledges, so you’re not going to be punished for being late to the party.

Feedback

Next up, feedback – we’ve got a lot of feedback on the game, and the hundreds of folks that played with us at Gamescom were amazing in telling me what they liked and what they didn’t like. As such, Predrag and I have made a number of improvements to the game, all of which will be a part of the shipping product in 2025.

First of all, we’ve simplified things. Intellectual Properties, Market Conditions, Marketshare increase cards – while it all makes sense to me, as someone that covers the gaming industry for a living, it was overly complex for many.

Instead, we’re bringing it back to basics – Games, Global Events, and Fanbase Increase Cards – all a lot easier to say and understand.

In addition, we’re looking to make the cards and the instructions on them easier to read and understand, by highlighting the effect of the card, leaving the ‘flavour’ text separated out. We’ve not finalised it yet, but definitely pleased with the changes.

Console Wars The Card Game Stretch Goals

While the late pledges continue, we’re still going to be monitoring how far we can progress in our stretch goal journey. Any progress made by late pledges will go towards those stretch goals, so please do continue to tell your friends, and share the game on social media. I really do want to be able to make those playmats…

Looking Forward…

As we head into production for Console Wars The Card Game, I’ll be keeping folks updated in our forums, Discord and via Kickstarter on what’s happening and when. To provide some transparency, there are several steps ahead before moving into full production.

Firstly, a final pass on the DLC pack, with 48 new games to be greenlit (and to make sure my jokes are actually still funny).

In late October, we’ll begin to send out our backer surveys please keep an eye out for them, and check your spam filters and junk mail boxes. Remember, if I don’t have you address, I can’t ship you the game.

At the same time, our chosen production team will create their “final prototypes” for me to sign off on. That’s so we can do a final check on materials, quality and design so that you end up with the best product possible. It’s my ambition to have the game entering into full production by November, with a goal to start shipping to you all as soon as we can in January.

We’re avoiding the Christmas season due to increased delivery costs, and the higher volume of mail means a higher chance your package could be lost in the deluge.

To our Community – Thank you.

I love you guys, and XboxEra wouldn’t exist without people like you supporting us in the ways that you do. To keep the conversation going, I urge all our backers to join the XboxEra Discord via discord.gg/xboxera – you can talk gaming, life and of course, Console Wars directly with us.
