While there seemed to be some viral marketing going on with newspapers and this website, Activision has now officially revealed the title for this year’s (2024’s) Call of Duty. And to the surprise of maybe only a few, the title is: “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6”.
We now know that the game will not be labelled “Gulf War” officially, this information had been coming from Insider Gaming. This also reveals to us the [REDACTED] part of the official Xbox showcase coming in just a few weeks as Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. MS opted to put the CoD focus after their main show, letting folks who are interested to remain tuned in or go about their way if not.
We do have some information regarding Call of Duty 2024, who’s official title has been revealed to be Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, courtesy of Insider Gaming. The biggest of which is that this game is supposed to be ‘Open World’.
“It won’t be the first time that the series has seen an open-world eqsue campaign though, as the first glimpse of what such a campaign could look like was first explored with Modern Warfare 3 and its ‘Open World Missions’. However, sources explained that unlike Modern Warfare 3, Gulf War’s campaign has been built from the ground up, rather than using assets from previous entries.
Currently, the game’s open world will see the player and their squad navigate the map more akin to that of Far Cry than anything we’ve seen before in the Call of Duty universe. Players will be able to utilize vehicles to get around, as well as using a fast travel system to get from one point to the next. Although the scope of how many linear missions there will be remains to be seen, sources confirmed that some linear missions will be integrated into the game.”
The official Xbox twitter account has also confirmed the name and that the direct following their main show will indeed be about Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Check it out here.
