At The Game Awards 2023 Xbox and Arkane Lyon showcased a new title. Ever since then people have been asking when is the Blade game coming out? We’ll dig into every detail we can find as we try and answer that question for this exciting upcoming title.
Blade coming from Arkane Lyon
It has been officially confirmed after rumors what Arkane Lyon’s next game is. The company announced today that they are making Blade. The game’s director Dinga Bakaba stated that the game is early in development and that the studio will need “time to cook”.
Blade sits alongside Indiana Jones as a popular IP adaptation from Film to Video Game by an Xbox internal studio. Many fans have been asking Xbox to develop more video game adaptations based on popular IP, and Blade fits that billing.
Blade is a popular Marvel superhero character who first appeared for mainstream audiences with 1998’s Blade, the first of a trilogy of films. Blade is set to return in 2025 with a new entry starring Academy Award-winning actor Mahershala Ali.
After the announcement, we were teased with some beautiful-looking concept art for the title.
These concepts show the vibe Arkane is going for, a futuristic looking Paris, Blade lurking in the shadows, and a lot of vampires. Arkane Lyon has impressed in the past with beautiful games and beautiful settings, notably with Dunwall in the Dishonored series and Blackreef in Deathloop. If history is anything to go by, Arkane Lyon should be cooking up something pretty special here with ‘Blade’.
