Modders offer Paid DLC alternatives for Dragon’s Dogma 2

Modders to the rescue?

The uproar around the generally very well received Capcom RPG, Dragon’s Dogma 2, reached what can only be described as incandescent levels of silliness this weekend. Steam users arrived in droves, leaving “mostly negative” reviews on the platform in response to Capcom’s inclusion of optional Dragon’s Dogma 2 paid DLC.

The Dragon’s Dogma 2 Paid DLC itself wasn’t, in our opinion, a particularly big deal, with many of the items on sale available for players to discover and earn within the game itself, even if some of them are arguably a little hard to find.

However, for players on PC, there’s a new option, thanks to the arrival of some new mods via Nexusmods to avoid paying anything whatsoever.

First up, there’s “Crazy’s Shop”, a mod that adds a variety of items to the shops throughout Vernworth.

  • Adds x255 Elite & Explorer Camp Kit, Wakestones, Rift Cystals, Farrystones, Beetles and more to the shops in Vernworth
  • Restocks back to x255 in one game day.
  • Rift Crystals won’t be added in your inventory it will automatically add to your rift count!
  • Buy only x99 at a time otherwise poof.
  • Uninstall all item type mods, Install this first then the 1 coin mod so everything is cheap.
  • Recommend saving in front of the shop before installing.
  • Changed x999 to x255 since x999 glitched out when buying x99.

There are other mods available too, including one that allows you to get your hands on the Art of Metamorphosis a little easier, so you can adjust your character.

Capcom haven’t been completely silent, detailing via a tweet a number of improvements focusing on performance and game save adjustments that are on the way in the “near future”.

Despite all the uproar, Dragon’s Dogman 2 is a fantastic game, with our Reviews Editor Jesse saying:

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a fantastic video game.  It improves on every facet of the first title.  An excellent main quest is paired with Capcom’s best English VO and some incredible emergent combat.  It’s fully approachable if you’ve never given the first one a go, and any Action RPG fan owes it to themselves to learn just what the Dragon’s Dogma truly is.

Stuck on this god-forsaken island. Father of two, wishes he could play more games but real life always gets in the way. Prefers shorter and often smarter experiences, but Halo is King.
