Is GTA6 coming to PC?

Fans wanting to play Grand Theft Auto 6 on PC might have to wait a while

A new Grand Theft Auto game is one of the biggest events in the industry, moving hardware for both Microsoft and Sony as players pick up a console just to play the latest game in the series. When it comes to PC gamers though, there’s just one question on their minds – When on earth is GTA6 coming to PC?

The impressive trailer for GTA 6 dropped in December of 2023, amassing more than 190+ million views so far. Gamers are certainly keen for it, which is understandable considering there hasn’t been a new GTA since 2013.

Unfortunately for PC gamers, there may be a little wait ahead of them. Publisher Take Two and developers Rockstar have always prioritised a console release first for games in the GTA series, and indeed, the same standard appears to be applied here. When specifically asked about a PC release, Take Two advised the game wouldn’t be available on PC at launch and that they’re targeting 2025.

Take Two have narrowed the launch window for GTA6 a bit since the trailer dropped. In a recent update via the company’s quarterly financial reporting in May of this year, to Autumn of 2025. According to Take Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick – “We narrowed the timing because we are highly confident in the timing”.

GTA 6 will be coming to the Xbox Series X|S & PlayStation 5 consoles at launch, with a PC version later as per usual with Rockstar releases. GTA 6 is the sequel to one of the most successful releases of all time, Grand Theft Auto V. The GTA series originated on PC nearly three decades ago, in 1997. GTA 6 takes place in Vice City, the game’s version of Miami, Florida.

Vice City is the main attraction of the Leonida County map. The trailer showed off a variety of locations including beaches, cityscapes, muddin festivals, and Everglade style forests. The main characters in GTA 6 are Lucia and Jason. Lucia will be the first playable female character in a GTA title. Based on the trailer there’s a heavy “Bonnie and Clyde” gangster vibe going between the two.
