A big question for many after January’s announcement is when is the Indiana Jones game coming out? Titled “The Great Circle” it was originally announced back in a Developer Direct in January of 2024. Here’s what we know about the game and its release date so far.
The Great Circle
Developed by Machinegames and executive produced by Todd Howard, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a mixture of 1st and 3rd-person action set in the time between the first and third films.
At the end of the trailer, we were given the release year of 2024. As we are already in April and no further date has been given one may assume that we’ll get a firm release date at Xbox’s showcase on June 7th, 2024. The company has a large lineup of announced 2024 titles, so let’s try and figure out a potential timeframe for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle as best we can.
Xbox published titles set for 2024 right now:

- Towerborne
- Avowed
- Hellblade II on May 23rd, 2024
- Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
- The next Call of Duty title
Of all the announced titles, only Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II has a firm release date. Call of Duty tends to drop in the November timeframe. That leaves June through October and December as empty months on Xbox’s release schedule. Your tentpole AAA releases tend to favor September through November, with a few dropping in early December.
Awards season is a focus and The Game Awards normally cut off submissions by early November. One can safely assume then that Indiana Jones would want to be out before November, not only to avoid Call of Duty’s release window but to gain proper consideration in Game of the Year voting season.
The Xbox store’s page describes the game as:
“Uncover one of history’s greatest mysteries in a first-person, single-player adventure set between the events of Raiders of the Lost Ark™ and The Last Crusade™. The year is 1937, sinister forces are scouring the globe for the secret to an ancient power connected to the Great Circle, and only one person can stop them – Indiana Jones™.”
