What are you playing this weekend?

Well, hello everybody, and welcome to the first ‘what are you playing this weekend?’ since our big rebrand last week. We are now coming to you as DayOne, and offering even more great video games content from across the industry. If you are new here, we run this feature every Saturday, and we start with catching up on what the team has been up to during the week. We then have a poll further down where we would love to hear your feedback and see what the community is getting up to. Let’s dig in, and find out what you are playing this weekend.

“This week has been an surprising, reaffirming, and hilarious one. I reviewed High On Life 2, getting the code in on Monday afterrnoon and having the review done by mid-day Wednesday.

It is fantastic in every aspect. The gameplay is better than the first, the comedy is better, and the focus keeps anything from ever feeling unwiedly, go read my review!

Outside of that an incredibly kind and generous patron bought a Switch 2 for me, to help with our move to multiplatform coverage.

I played a bit of Mario Kart World, it’s good! Not Sonic Racing good, but good. The biggest surprise is just how damned fun Donkey Kong Bananza is. It’s a dumb game, but that’s the point. It’s a joyous, beautiful mish-mash of weird ideas and fun gameplay that I hope to see all the way through.

This week has been a bit of a blur, as I headed off to DICE to network, meet industry peers and generally try to make Console Wars The Card Game The Video Game a reality! But that doesn’t mean I’ve not been getting some video game time in – a ROG Xbox Ally X and long-haul flights are a match made in heaven.

This week of course, I released my review for REANIMAL, the latest co-op horror adventure from Tarsier Studios. It’s an excellent time for all involved, and I spent a fair bit of time on the plane playing through it again as I searched levels for collectable hats, statues and concept art. If like me, you’re full of questions on what the world of REANIMAL is all about, I do reccommend checking out my interview with Tarsier on the game – I still have so many questions. I also played a little of High on Life 2, though performance is a little rough on handheld, so that’s one for me to get stuck in with this weekend with a large television and a bit more power at hand.

I also played through and completed in entirety a brand new game that I can’t talk about yet…more on that another week!

As you may have read, I flew to London to try Screamer exclusively – you’ll read more about that very soon!

I also had been finishing up some other review materials you will read next week, on a wide variety of platforms too – PC, Xbox, Switch 2!

But other than all that, I am mainly continuing my Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut playthrough, as I’m getting more and more into this Yakuza thing that I kinda thought would never click for me.

I also just bought Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines 2… shall I start that one as well?

Poll
