Is Carmageddon: Rogue Shift coming to Game Pass?

After “unofficially” recreating the magic of racers like WipeOut and F-Zero with their Redout series, they’re now tackling an actual classic IP. It’s Carmageddon, the 90’s destructive and bloody racing series – this time, with a roguelike spin. It’s hitting just about any console and PC out there, but one question remains. New destruction

Both a spin-off and a comeback to the franchise, Carmageddon: Rogue Shift is a new way of delivering the Carmageddon experience. The fast and destructive gameplay is still there. Instead of civilians, we get boosts via mauling down hordes of undead. We can either win by being the fastest, or by smashing our opponents with our car, if not with weapons like lasers or rockets. Every track is packed with stuff to destroy, but be careful not to get smashed yourself. The game’s single player roguelike formula demands survival at all costs, with a great mid-run build variety that keeps events fresh.

As pointed out in our review for Carmageddon: Rogue Shift, this fresh take on the franchise creates some extremely tense and enjoyable races, though there’s a few caveats and compromises not everyone will love. Still, our staff had quite a blast playing this game in the lead-up to the review, and we even had a chat with Giuseppe Enrico Franchi, the game director for this title. But of course, we understand how the market works. A relatively unknown developer tackling a long-dormant IP is a risky purchase, which could be sidestepped by the game being included in a gaming service like Game Pass. So, is Carmageddon: Rogue Shift in Game Pass?

On another day

At the time of this writing, there has been no announcement made for Carmageddon: Rogue Shift to join Game Pass – be it on Xbox or PC. Of course, it could pop up anytime, even without any prior announcement – as shadow drops on the service are certainly quite common. Still, if you want this destructive roguelike racer at launch, it looks like you’ll have to buy it – the launch price is 39.99 USD/EUR, and it’s launching on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC and Nintendo Switch 2 on February 6th, 2026.

So, are you looking forward to playing Carmageddon: Rogue Shift? Do you have fond memories of playing the classics back in the day? If so, did you play with the original, uncensored versions or were you forced to stick to a largely altered version? Let us know in the comments below!
