Last week, developer INTI CREATES announced that their deckbuilding role-playing game ‘Card-en-Ciel’ will see the launch of its Expansion Pass on 19 February, bringing about the worlds of ‘Gal Guardians Servants of the Dark’ and ‘Blaster Master Zero’ to the game at 4.99 USD a piece or 9.99 for the full pass. In addition, a free content update launched as part of the announcement alongside the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Card-en-Ciel.
First things first—The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition boasts selectable high resolution 4k and high framerate 120 FPS modes. Players can also swap to mouse controls at any time by changing the position of the Joy-Con 2, allowing for quick selection of cards during battle. This new SKU is available for 29.99 USD or as an upgrade from the Switch version for 4.99 USD.
The free content update that dropped for all platforms brought about new content, challenges, and improvements:
- “Real Challenge Battles” will task players with completing a pre-set battle in a limited number of moves, rewarding new Parallel Cards to those who can complete them.
- Network Battles have been improved, making sure the all-important initial Muse selection remains balanced, as well as giving players a chance to re-roll their choices.
- A new Extra Dungeon will also provide experts players with a fun challenge, upping the rate that Parallel Cards appear.

Lastly (but not least-ly), let’s take a look at the Expansion Pass content. These two DLC packs bring brand new content to the world of Card-en-Ciel, with new story content, dungeons, and cards. “Gal Guardians Servants of the Dark” features characters from the 2D Metroidvania released last year, and “Blaster Master Zero Series” adds content featuring all 3 games from the retro reboot. As the presser puts it:
Each DLC pack will add 2 new dungeons (including 1 with brand-new story and voice acting), multiple new cards, new random events, and a new Muse. Players will be able to access this content after progressing partway through the main story.
“The World of ‘Gal Guardians Servants of the Dark’” DLC will release on February 19th, and “The World of the ‘Blaster Master Zero’ Series” DLC comes on March 12th. Also launching on February 19th for $9.99, the Expansion Pass will grant players access to these DLC immediately upon their respective releases, plus a new Neon card for purchasing.
The two packs will also be available individually for $4.99 each.
