‘Warframe’ Heads for Android 18 February, “The Shadowgrapher” Update Set for March

Plus, details on the Switch 2 version!

Today, developer Digital Extremes took to their livestream today to announce a couple of things: namely, that the Android version of ‘Warframe’ finally has a set release date of 18 February over on the Google Play Store. This version of the game has been in beta testing for some time and Android users can now join in on the fun with other players across iOS, PC, and console users with full crossplay and cross-save compatibility. Pre-registrations are available over on the GPlay Storefront and do note that you will need a device with a minimum of 4GB RAM, Android 12, and a 64-bit variant of the operating system (essentially anything beyond 2020 should be good to go).

“We are one step closer to making Warframe playable on every current-gen platform with the upcoming launch on Android devices,” said Megan Everett, Community Director. “It’s always been our goal to make Warframe as accessible as possible. Our game has a little something to offer for everyone, and this is the next major step to sharing the Warframe experience with new Tenno around the world. Thanks to Cross Play and Cross Save, the sky is the limit to who you play with and how you play!”

But that wasn’t all–we got a look at the next major update to the game: “The Shadowgrapher” update will launch across all platforms sometime in March. Here, we got a look at the 64th Warframe known as Follie and a new game mode hidden within a haunted, abandoned painting and explore a new mission environment where something sinister lurks in the dark. Plus, graphical improvements are coming that let players customise the Operator and Drifter’s appearances alongside the ability to replay The Old Peace Quest. February’s devstream should have more details on that.

As for Switch players, never fear: the Switch 2 version is a work in progress! 1080p and 60FPS play are guaranteed along with improves textures and other visual stuffs. You will also have the ability to use the Joycon mouse to navigate menus with ease or aim down weapon sights mid-combat for precise marksmanship. No longer do you have to rely on aim assist like some sort of chump! But regardless, you’re in for a wait as this port is set for a Q1 release this year.

Head over to the official Warframe news page for more details about all the announcements. Warframe is a free-to-play looter shooter that is available across PC via Warframe.com/Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch consoles, iOS, and (very soon) Android devices. Full cross-save and crossplay are supported across all platforms. TennoCon is slated for the middle of the year as well and ticket sales will begin 27 February @ 4PM ET. Oh, and PAX East attendees can take part in Warframe’s Main Stage panel on Saturday, 28 March, to see the latest news, ask questions for the dev team, and attend a community TennoVIP event celebrating Warframe’s 13th anniversary on Friday, 27 March in Boston, MA, for signings, giveaways, and more.

TennoVIP tickets will go on sale 12 February @ 2PM ET. Of course, you will need a PAX East badge!
