Nintendo Direct Announced, All About Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Nintendo have today announced there’s going to be a new Nintendo Direct, although if you’re hoping it will be about new games for your Switch 2, I’m sorry to disappoint you. No, this time around the Nintendo Direct is focused on one thing – the Illumination Animation Sequel, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.

Sharing the news on social media via the official Nintendo of America account, the team shared “Join us on Sunday, Jan 25, at 6am PT for the #NintendoDirect featuring an exclusive look at The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Please note that no game information will be included in this presentation.” At least they’ve set some expectations, hey?

If you have the Nintendo Today app, you can also watch it there, if that takes your fancy.

Nintendo Direct Announced, All About Super Mario Galaxy Movie

This is obviously a sequel to the very successful first Mario film starring Chris Pratt, Jack Black, Charlie Day, Seth Rogen and Anya Taylor-Joy. This time, much like the Mario Galaxy games, the team are heading into outer space. It all looks like good, family friendly fun, with plenty of new characters coming along for the ride.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is heading to a cinema near you from April 3rd, 2026 if you’re in the United States and most other places.
