Cross-Progression Finally Coming to Hitman: World of Assassination

Five years ago today, Hitman 3 released and following tons of updates, a new name and 75M players later, developer IO Interactive have announced something that Hitman fans have long been waiting for. That’s right – cross-progression is finally coming to Hitman: World of Assassination.

Sharing the news on the company website, IO interactive said “On this day, exactly 5 years ago, HITMAN 3 launched worldwide for our players to experience, as the final chapter of the World of Assassination trilogy. As part of that special milestone, it was also important for HITMAN to equip its players with a sense of continuity by allowing everyone to bring forward their established progression from previous parts.

As part of this special milestone, IOI have updated their IOI account system with a fresh new look on browsers and mobile, but more importantly, they’ve announced cross-progression for Hitman: World of Assassination, which is something fans have long campaigned for. Per IOI:

Cross-Progression is coming to HITMAN World of Assassination, set to go live on February 3rd. Since the release of HITMAN World of Assassination, it has been our wish to enable this feature for players to be able to carry on their in-game progression, whatever the device you play on, and even more so since HITMAN WOA is now playable on more than 10 different platforms. Whether you’re switching from console to PC, playing on multiple devices, or changing to a new platform, your progression will now follow you, from the 3rd of February onwards, no matter where you choose to play. In addition, a 3.250.1 Steam patch will be going live next week to ensure proper Cross-Progression functioning ahead of its launch on February 3rd.

How will Cross-Progression Work in Hitman: World of Assassination?

When Cross-Progression is enabled, your progression will be stored online and shared across all supported platforms you link to your IOI Account. Cross-Progression uses a Primary Account model, meaning that when you link platforms to your IOI Account, one platform profile of your choice becomes your primary progression profile, and all other linked platforms follow that profile.

The following progression data is shared across platforms:

  • Experience
  • Player Level
  • Challenges
  • Location Mastery
  • Unlocks and Inventory
  • Achievements / Trophies
  • Freelancer Mode Progression
  • Campaign Story Progress

This ensures that whether you’re completing Silent Assassin challenges, unlocking items, or building out your Freelancer safehouse, your progress remains consistent across platforms.

The following are not shared across platforms:

  • Game license
  • DLC license
  • DLC-based unlocks

To access specific locations, missions, or DLC items on another platform, you must own that content on that platform. If you do not own a piece of content on a platform, you will not have access to it, or its associated unlocks there, even if you unlocked them elsewhere.

Be warned, the developer has shared that old saves from a ‘non-primary’ linked account will not be loadable when you have cross progression active. If you do want to use an old save, you can disable cross progression at any time. So that’s nice!
