While the announcement was spotted a little earlier than planned, it’s all official. Marathon is releasing March 5th, 2026, and Bungie have detailed all the various editions that are available, should you wish to indulge.
Per a post on Bungie.net, Marathon arrives in a couple of different flavours. There’s a standard edition for $39.99, a deluxe edition for $59.99 and if you’re a really big fan, a collectors edition – but on that last one, please note that it doesn’t seem to ship with an actual copy of the game if you get it on its own. It does come with one if you spend the right amount of money – across all versions – Xbox, PlayStation and Steam.

The Marathon Standard Edition includes:
- Access to all gameplay updates (maps, Runner shells, events, etc.) as the year progresses
- Pre-order Marathon and also receive the following:
- ZERO STEP 004 CE Tactical Sidearm Style
- ZERO STEP RC Weapon Charm
- ZERO STEP SHIFT Weapon Sticker
- APOGEE INTERCEPT Background
- APOGEE INTERCEPT Emblem
- Plus the following pre-order rewards for Destiny 2 linked to your Bungie.net account:
- UESC Echo-type Shell Exotic Ghost
- UESC Rover Exotic Ship
- UESC Sprinter Exotic Sparrow

The Marathon Deluxe Edition includes:
- All Standard Edition content
- 1x Premium Rewards Pass Voucher
- 200 SILK Rewards Pass Tokens
- Weapon Cosmetics:
- MIDNIGHT DECAY Misriah 2442 Pump Shotgun Style
- MIDNIGHT DECAY Overrun AR Style
- Runner Shell Cosmetics:
- MIDNIGHT DECAY Vandal Shell Style
- MIDNIGHT DECAY Destroyer Shell Style
- MIDNIGHT DECAY Assassin Shell Style
- MIDNIGHT DECAY Thief Shell Style

Per Bungie, “The Marathon Collector’s Edition features a premium unboxing experience inspired by Sekiguchi Genetics’ shell-weaving process. Unbox to reveal a 1/6-scale Thief Runner Shell statue, collectible miniature WEAVEworm, embroidered patch, postcards, digital rewards, and more.“
It’s available to pre-order now on the Bungie Store, but if you want to see it up close, you can check out a handy video.
Bungie recently released a new developer diary of the game, showcasing the various ‘runner shells’ players can utilise to mix up their gameplay. You can read more about that here. Like many of you, I have been a bit sceptical about Marathon, especially during the last public beta before the game was delayed. However, after watching through the above vidoc earlier in the week, it’s fair to say the the game is looking in a vastly better place, and dare I say it – Fun? (We are allowed to have fun in video games, right?)
