60 FPS Update for Three Far Cry Games Confirmed by Ubisoft

A post on social media by Ubisoft that hinted at a 60 FPS update for three Far Cry titles has now been confirmed to arrive on Wednesday, January 21. The upgrades will apply to Far Cry 3, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon and Far Cry Primal. Read on to get more details on the 60FPS update for three Far Cry games confirmed by Ubisoft.

The image posted by the Official Far Cry X account on Friday consisted of a string of Emojis, and these were quickly deciphered by fans. In the replies, the team at Ubisoft pretty much confirmed that the upgrades were coming to the three games, which is pretty great for fans of the series!

The Xbox 360 version of Far Cry 3 already runs at 60 FPS (thanks FPS boost!), however the ‘Classic Edition’ of both this and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon had previously been locked at 30 FPS. The new update should mean that these titles now become much more performant on the current generation of consoles.

Far Cry Primal can also already be played at 60 FPS using the FPS Boost program on Xbox Series X|S, so the new upgrade will allow it to be played as standard. People playing the games on PlayStation consoles will also benefit from the changes – in fact the only trailer we could find relating to this upgrade was for PlayStation. You can check it out below.
