So, first, the good news.

With the extension of Battlefield 6 Season 1, the developers are adding more – including new weekly challenges, a new bonus path and a further continuation of the Season 1 Battle Pass. This new Season 1 content will start to arrive on January 20th.

On January 27th, the ‘Frostfire Bonus Path’ will provide players with an opportunity to unlock both free and premium customisation rewards – from a weapon package and solider skin, to XP boosts. Note – this will require a purchase of the Season 1 Battle Pass, but it can be completed concurrently alongside the existing Season 1 Battle Pass – unlike previous Bonus Paths, all the points you need can be earned through weekly challenges.

Per EA, “Free rewards from the Frostfire Bonus Path will include a Hardware XP Boost, a Vehicle Skin and playercard customization items, while Battle Pass owners can grab a new Weapon Package, a Career XP Boost and additional customization items.

Season 1 will continue until the now revised launch date for Battlefield 6 Season 2, which is coming our way on February 17th.

Why the Delay?

Primarily, the team are gathering feedback and listening. Per the blog, the team have shared that “During our ongoing development, we’ve continued to review community feedback and, in order to keep our promise, determined that our best path forward is to extend Season 1 and give ourselves extra time to further polish and refine Season 2.”

Additionally, there’s some Valentine’s Day events planned, so keep an eye out for that.

There’s been a lot of discussion around Battlefield 6 and it’s concurrent Steam player count, which has seen the game drop massively, as competing titles like ARC Raiders maintain high player retention.
