A new update available today for ARC Raiders sees a couple of weapons nerfed, in addition to new cosmetics, fixes and adjusted lighting on the night raid version of Stella Montis.

Embark have shared the details for the ARC Raiders January Update on their website, and there’s a decent amount to dig into. First up, the trusty Kettle gun has had it’s fire rate reduced – it seems the developers noted that the previous fire rate was only really possible to achieve when using a Macro via 3rd party software – naughty naughty.

Next up, the trigger-nade, a go to for many players as the ‘best’ sort of PVP grenade has been adjusted to be less lethal at a wide radius, and taking a little longer to trigger. Lastly, for fans of PVP encounters on Stella Montis (a map notorious for being PVP heavy) things are about to get even more dangerous. Lighting has been adjusted during Night Raids, to make “flashlights and listening more relevant.” Be on your guard!

Here’s the full patch notes, for your convenience.

ARC Raiders January Update Patch Notes:

  • Kettle
    • Dev note: Reduced fire rate from 600 to 450. The previous fire rate was only realistically reachable by players using macros, which creates an unfair dynamic that favours using 3rd party software.
  • Trigger ‘Nade
    • Dev note: Trigger ‘Nade currently dominates PVP encounters, and players favour picking it over all our other grenades. This nerf aims to make it less usable as a “trigger-in-air” grenade, whilst keeping its usefulness as a sticky bomb. Damage falloff has been rebalanced to concentrate the damage closer to the center of the explosion, and deal less damage further away. The delay between triggering the grenade and it detonating, has been increased from 0.7s to 1.5s, giving players more time to react, and making it harder to time the detonation in air.
  • Fixed a key card exploit that allowed players to keep room keys after using them.
  • Lighting has been lowered in some areas on Stella Montis Night Raid making flashlights and listening more relevant.

It’s been a incredible run for Embark and ARC Raiders since launch. Most recently, the team announced over 12 million copies sold (they’ve gifted players a new ‘gilded pickaxe’ to celebrate) and the game achieved a concurrent player count just shy of 1 Million people (960,000 or so, to be a little more precise).
Impressive stuff – we wonder what’s coming next?
