What Are You Playing This Weekend?

We are back with this, the first of our weekly features for 2026. We are all hard back at it, and ready for a huge year in gaming. If you need a reminder, this is where we let you know what we have been playing over the week. We also have a poll towards the end of the article, where you can tell us what is going to be loading up on your console or PC. So, what are you playing this weekend?

I was perusing Opencritic’s top games of 2025, as one does, and saw a game called ‘Keep Driving’. I bought it on sale on Steam and gave it a whirl in a Friday night stream. After a few hours I see why it currently holds and 89 aggregate. You play as a young adult going on your first road trip in this, surprising, turn-based RPG. Every road condition becomes a series of hazards for you to try and avoid. Slow drivers, potholes, cops, and more are all events you have to tactically avoid, lest you take damage to your car, lose gas, or run out of energy.

The soundtrack is full of absolute bangers, the writing is great, and the gameplay loop felt fantastic. There are a series of hitchhikers you can pick up along the way that offer you different skills and passives. They’ll have their own quests to complete, argue with each other, and make every playthrough feel different. It’s only on PC for now, and I hope it eventually comes to consoles. Keep Driving is a beautifully animated pixel-style game from two devs and well worth checking out.

Jon (Sikamikanico):

As we settle back in to the flow of another year in video games, I’ve been tackling a number of different titles. One, a promising upcoming game Pass release that I can’t really say too much about just yet, and the other a game that’s releasing into Steam Early Access very soon that is surprisingly addictive – and that one I said yes to on a whim!

The start of this year though, is full of all sorts of administrative effort. A ton of project work for the site is underway, with a very clear goal – more content for the people that support and make our existence possible – arguably, that’s the most important thing I’m doing this week, and for at least the next month to come!

My New Year’s resolution for 2026 is to play more video games, so I have gone straight off into the deep end and started playing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. I was a huge Indy fan growing up, and am really impressed with how much like actually playing an Indiana Jones film this feels like. The puzzles are great, and hitting Nazis with spades and throwing them off balconies has definitely been one of the highlights of my week. I just need to find some time to keep playing!

Poll:

Are you attempting to clear your video game backlog at the moment ahead of 2026’s onslaught of new titles? Or are you just firing up a comforting old favourite? Maybe playing one of the Game of the Year nominees? Let us know in the poll below.
