Xbox announced their Developer Direct, more Fallout is coming, Wolfenstein 3, and more were discussed in today’s episode of Xbox Era Headlines.
Developer Direct 2026
In today’s episode of Xbox Era Headlines, Jon & Jesse discussed the latest in gaming news. We had the Xbox Developer Direct was announced. It will be coming on January 22nd at 1 PM ET and will feature Fable, Forza Horizon 6, and Beast of Reincarnation. Fable had been set for 2025 before a delay early last year. Beast of Reincarnation comes from Pokémon’s gaming studio, Game Freak. It is an action RPG and looks gorgeous.
Our other main topic was an article by Jez Corden of Windows Central. In it, he broke down what is coming to Xbox in 2026 and beyond. From the future of Fallout, with Fallout 5, Fallout New Vegas Remake, and Fallout New Vegas Remake, Wolfenstein III, Xbox’s UI future, and more were discussed.
Ubisuck
Ubisoft shut down its Ubisoft Halifax studio shortly after 61 of the team’s 71 members chose to unionize. In a statement (via the lovely folks at Insider Gaming), Ubisoft said, “Over the past 24 months, Ubisoft has undertaken company-wide actions to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and reduce costs. As part of this, Ubisoft has made the difficult decision to close its Halifax studio. 71 positions will be affected. We are committed to supporting all impacted team members during this transition with resources, including comprehensive severance packages and additional career assistance.”
Apparently, the decision was made ‘well before’ staff unionised – but well, let’s be honest. The optics aren’t great any way you slice it. While revenue generated from Assassin’s Creed: Rebellion has been declining, and the game was no longer getting new content, the team at Ubisoft Halifax was working on new mobile titles in both the Assassin’s Creed and Rainbow Six franchises.
