If you miss the days of rocking out with games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band, then now is the time to get excited, as a brand new rhythm and music based title from Echo Foundry Interactive will be releasing later this year. Sound System is the brainchild of two veterans of Guitar Hero, DJ Hero and Rock Band, and the new game promises to “honor the magic of the classics while unlocking modern creativity, community, and infinite replay.” Let’s dig in, and find out more about the brand new Guitar Hero-style game launching in 2026.
The new game will have four difficulty levels at launch and will contain support for guitar, bass and vocals. There will be both co-op and competitive modes to choose from as well as the chance to customise tracks by uploading your own songs and editing notes. You will also be able to use custom themes and dynamic backgrounds, bringing the classic genre right up to date. Here’s what the team at Echo Foundry Interactive had to say:
“Sound System is a next-generation rhythm game that brings guitar gaming back to its classic arcade roots while introducing an entirely new platform built around free music, streamers, and community-driven gameplay. Players can shred guitar, sing vocals, and build their own note charts for any tune anytime, unlocking a new era of music gaming.“
Sounds great, right? Well, that’s not all. Sound System will be playable with guitar controllers from across the board, but there’s also a new shredder in town in the form of the Drakong InfinaKore Telecaster Edition controller which was revealed alongside the announcement for Sound System.
