In today’s episode of Xbox Era Headlines, which aired on January 6th, we discussed how incredible 2026 looks for games, Game Pass’ first drop, and a whole lot more.

Getting back to work
In our first episode after the winter break, things began on a somber note as we noted the losses of Albert Penello, Vince Zampella, his passenger, and David Rosen of SEGA. The Game Pass’ Jan ‘26 Wave One drop saw Resident Evil Village, STAR WARS Outlaws, and more joining the service throughout the month.

On the tech side of things, Xbox comes to select Hisense TVs & TCL Google TVs later in 2026 while at CES we got all kinds of new toys, including ASUS has a true dual-screen laptop, there are gaming-focused xReal glasses, and RE Requiem showed off path tracing with Nvidia’s new DLSS 4.5 tech.
GOG, a.k.a. Good Old Games is being sold off to it and CD Projekt Red’s co-founder. 007: First Light was due to be out in February, but instead will now take the slot previously occupied by GTA 6 (plus a day). Dispatch has hit 3 million copies sold, there’s a AAA John Wick game in development and more.
You can find it all above in our Headlines show, which airs every Tuesday and Thursday.
