If you were looking forward to stepping into the shoes of James Bond in March next year, I’m afraid you’re going to be waiting a little longer. IO Interactive have announced that 007 First Light is delayed – but only for a couple of months to allow for ‘further polish’.

Sharing via the universally accepted method of an image as text on social media, IO Interactive shared the following message, saying “Hello everyone. Today, we are sharing an update regarding 007 First Light, as we have decided to move the game’s release date by two months, to the 27th May 2026.”
They continued, “The game is progressing well and is fully playable from beginning to end, so these additional two months will allows us to further polish and refine the experience, ensuring we deliver the strongest possible version at launch. We’re confident this sets 007 First Light up for long-term success, and we sincerely appreciate the patience and continued support we’ve received ever since we revealed the game. We look forward to sharing more updates regarding 007 First Light in early 2026.”
We got an early preview of the game back at Gamescom earlier this year, and IO Interactive aren’t telling fibs when it comes to the ambition of the game. Gadgets, cars and Bond – it’s all here. Back then, we said “I can’t think of a better pairing of developer and franchise than the team at IO Interactive and James Bond. They’ve brought everything they’ve learned from the fantastic Hitman series, and after checking out the mechanics, gameplay and open-ended level design that the team have in store for us with 007 First Light, I’ve come away feeling that this is going to be a match made in heaven.“
007 First Light is now releasing May 27th, 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.
