A ‘Dev Dive’ video has showcased new gameplay systems, a shift in camera perspective and more in the upcoming DAVE THE DIVER DLC, ‘In the Jungle’.
Dave the Diver finally hit Xbox earlier this year as a Play Anywhere title. It is currently on sale for $11. I reviewed it, after putting in dozens of hours on PC and checking out the Xbox version on both console and an Xbox Ally X.
I love the game. Its blend of genres and comedy is a near-perfect mix of old-school gaming and modern ideas. You play as the portly Dave, getting ingredients, fighting sea monsters, and helping run a sushi restaurant.
In the Jungle is the game’s latest DLC and first full expansion to another area. Below is the ‘Dev Dive’ vlog, with full details on the upcoming update beneath that.
In the Jungle
In the Jungle brings players to Utara village. Leaving the magical area from the first game, time flows naturally here. Dave will be tasked with his usual resource-gathering dives while building up new friendships with the village locals.
The game will introduce ‘Bancho’s Grill’, a second restaurant in Utara that utilizes the local flora and fauna. Dave has learned how dimensions work in the grill, and can go up and down instead of just left and right while waiting on customers.
Dave’s main new tool for dealing with this freshwater environment is called the “Jungle Gun”. It can turn into a shotgun, sniper, net gun, or be a stock standard dealer of death. Alongside this gun is a shift from a 2D side view to a more Diablo-esque isometric one. It’s not quite as high up as the famed ARPG, keeping the perspective closer to the ground.
The last piece of info we were shown was that DAVE THE DIVER is set to come to mobile devices. The game will launch first in China, with a global expansion planned for later in 2026.
