‘No Rest For The Wicked’ Co-op Update Detailed

Moon Studios are best known for their work on the incredible metroidvania series Ori, which includes both Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisps. No Rest For The Wicked was released in Early Access back in April 2024 under now defunct publisher Private Division.

In March of this year, the team at Moon Studios shared an update an update on their publishing situation following Take Two’s decision to sell off the in-house publishing label, Private Division. The short version? They bought the publishing rights back, meaning that Moon Studios was fully independent, and would self-publish the game in entirety.

Today, we got our first look at a most requested feature – co-operative play, in a new update which is referred to as No Rest For The Wicked Together. This new update brings co-op combat in addition to weapon updates, shared resources, homesteads and a whole lot more. All of this is playable with up to four players is ‘shared, persistent realms’.

With Wicked, our goal was to combine the best aspects of ARPGs with the best aspects of MMORPGs in order to create the most immersive multiplayer experience possible.” said Thomas Mahler, CEO of Moon Studios. “We believe that what players really want is a multiplayer experience where you form an actual fellowship with your friends and family. One that brings back the magical feeling of playing your very first DND campaign.

When will you be able to play this new version of the game? According to Moon, the update will go live January 22nd, 2026 – but if you just can’t wait, a new public beta test featuring content from the impending update is available now to everyone who has purchased the game. The Open Beta Test is available from 18th – 22nd December 2025.

In order to access the beta, you’ll need to own the game on Steam.

  • Right-click on “No Rest for the Wicked” in your Steam Library.
  • Go to “Properties”.
  • Navigate to the “Betas” tab.
  • Next to “Beta Participation”, select “experimental” from the dropdown menu.
