Accessory and hardware maker GameSir will be launching their first-ever vertical mobile controller for iOS and Android devices later this month: meet the “GameSir Pocket 1 Vertical Mobile Controller”, apt is its name as is its design, which is built not just to invoke memories of playing Mega Man Battle Network under a lamplight (backlit displays weren’t a thing for Nintendo consoles til the SP) but is also built to make playing retro games on your mobile phone that much easier and convenient.
Designed with a secure clamp-style layout that transforms mobile devices into a mini retro console, the Pocket 1 combines vintage aesthetics with modern features including Bluetooth connectivity, automatic power-on/off, and a lightweight, ultra-portable design. Weighing just 62.2g and supplied with a protective PP storage case, it’s made for on-the-go play with smooth wireless performance across Android and other compatible platforms over Bluetooth.
The Pocket 1 features a 600 mAh battery for extended sessions, cushioned membrane ABXY and D-pad controls for classic responsive input, and tactile switch bumpers and triggers for added precision. Its hollow-bottom design allows users to charge their phone during gameplay, while soft silicone pads protect devices within the clamp. A built-in keyboard mode and support for remapping via the GameSir app offer further personalisation, along with advanced options such as D-pad diagonal lock, G-Touch, V-Touch and on-device shortcut adjustments. Compact, nostalgic and feature-rich, the Pocket 1 brings traditional handheld gaming charm into a modern, pocketable controller built for daily carry.
You can pick up the Pocket 1 when it goes live over on GameSir’s official website on the 25th of December. The controller will retail for 34.99 USD but an “Early Bird” pricing of 29.99 will be available on GameSir’s website.
