In a new blog post shared on the Call of Duty website, Activision have shared a new message to the community along with a few surprises.
Firstly, the team note that for some players, “the Franchise has not met your expectations fully” and that the team plan to “deliver, and overdeliver, on those expectations as we move forward.” They’ve also announced a free weekend, starting next week for all players to check out Black Ops 7 Multiplayer and Zombies in full, alongside a Double XP weekend. Going forward, the game will have “unprecedented seasonal support”, which sounds pretty good if you’re a hardcore Call of Duty fan.
However, it’s fair to say that while the Multiplayer and Zombies are pretty great, the campaign has faced a fair amount of criticism. This feels like a response to that.
Here’s the message in full.
A message from the Call of Duty team.
First off, thank you for all for the feedback we have received over the last few months. Call of Duty has enjoyed long-standing success because of all of you, a passionate community that demands excellence and deserves nothing less. We also know that for some of you, the Franchise has not met your expectations fully. To be very clear, we know what you expect and rest assured we will deliver, and overdeliver, on those expectations as we move forward.
With respect to Black Ops 7, we set our sights to deliver a spiritual successor to Black Ops 2 and the studios have poured their passion into making a great game that all of us are very proud of. But it’s one thing for us to say it, more importantly it’s up to you to try it and judge for yourselves. So as it relates to Black Ops 7 and the future of Call of Duty, here are a few important notes.
1. You’ll Have the Opportunity to Play Black Ops 7 for Free
Next week, we are opening the doors for everyone to jump in and play Black Ops 7 Multiplayer and Zombies for a free trial along with a Double XP weekend. We would like you to experience the game firsthand and decide for yourselves.
2. We Are Committed to Unprecedented Seasonal Support
Your continuing feedback will help shape our seasonal updates over the coming months. Season 01 is the largest live season ever and we’re just getting started. We won’t rest until Black Ops 7 earns its place as one of the best Black Ops games we’ve ever made.
3. Our Strategy Going Forward Is Changing
- We will no longer do back-to-back releases of Modern Warfare or Black Ops games. The reasons are many, but the main one is to ensure we provide an absolutely unique experience each and every year.
- We will drive innovation that is meaningful, not incremental. While we aren’t sharing those plans today, we look forward to doing so when the time is right.
To be clear, the future of Call of Duty is very strong and we believe our best days are ahead of us given the depth and talent of our development teams. We have been building the next era of Call of Duty, and it will deliver precisely on what you want along with some surprises that push the Franchise and the genre forward. We look forward to welcoming you in, listening to you, and moving forward together.
Our team are currently digging into the recent Season 1 launch at the moment, and plan to have some more thoughts along with a few other things live for you to check out later this week. If you’ve not read our full review (that features dedicated sections focused on all the modes on offer), then feel free to check it out here.

Fist .Activision need to pull there finger out of there ass. After the big update and voice and text disabled after the update. One can send all the feedback one can but NOTHING gets done about and any one can go to any platform and see the people are fucking upset. Don’t get me wrong its a excellent game and its bring all different players together. But what you can do know with this vice and chat ban that ever one gotten is take the game and all the hard work one has pout in to it and flush it down to toilet . I am really considering of making a video and showing me deleting the game and sending a bill for the wast of my data that was used. That how I feel about it at the moment. Its all nice to have a time line for free to play multiplier and zombie but what the point. Of it if you dont fix your glitches Activision!
I would like to call out Activision and call of duty to comment on this. This what what we want to know what are theye doing about it …. probably nothing duy to there silence on the matter. Make a article about that.
