Consider this a heads up for fans of Rare’s classic platformer collect-athon series, Banjo Kazooie. There’s a brand new adventure for you to play, but I’m afraid there’s a catch.
Called Banjo-Kazooie ‘Mumbomania’, it was created by one of the level designers over at Moon Studios, William Butkevicius, aka ‘Eupholace‘ who’s been working hard on creating this new adventure for the dynamic platforming duo in his spare time. Per Eupholace, “The bear and bird are back for their first buddy-trio adventure! Mysteriously disembodied, Mumbo joins Banjo and Kazooie to help collect, fight, and transform into a variety of strange beings.”
The big catch here of course is that this incredibly good looking adventure is only available to play via Media Molecule’s ‘Dreams’, a creation platform originally released on PlayStation 4, and of course playable on PlayStation 5 too.
So if you’re an Xbox-only fan reacting to this with great excitement, we’re sorry – Microsoft have still not made an official follow-up to Banjo-Kazooie since 2008’s ‘Nuts and Bolts’.

Thomas Mahler, CEO and Creative Director at Moon Studios also chimed in social media, once again floating the idea of Moon picking up the Banjo-Kazooie mantle and making a new game in the franchise. Considering how fantastic the Ori games were, we really wish someone at Rare or Microsoft would just pick up the damned phone already.
