Revealed 13 years ago, this passionate fan project is finally available, and the team behind it are very much aware it’s taken a fair bit of time. However long it’s taken, the time has finally arrived – ‘TimeSplitters Rewind‘ is out now in Early Access on PC, and it’s free to download.
‘TimeSplitters Rewind‘ has taken a very long time to be brought to life, and on the development teams website for the game, it acknowledges this, and simply says – “Sorry it’s taken us so long. We’ve only been making the largest free content video game ever.” They’re not kidding on that front, as there is a lot that comes with this free download.
If you’re looking for a little more detail on this incredible story, the team have a very handy timeline available to read through with plenty of updates. In 2103, Crytek, who own the IP gave their official blessing to the team to go ahead and start building this, and even provided original assets. The team note that none of these were used, and everything you see in the game has been built from scratch, which is pretty impressive.
What does TimeSplitters Rewind contain?

- 32 Challenges
- 96 Characters
- 41 Weapons
- 20 Arcade Game Modes
- New Game Mode – Team Elimination
- Updated Game Mode – Last Stand
- Online and Offline Arcade w/Bots
- 10 Players Online
It is worth mentioning that the developers warn players to expect a ‘substantial amount of content (and bugs)’ so be aware that if you do play it, it may not be perfect. But passion often has its flaws!
