What Are You Playing This Weekend?

Another week has passed us by, and it’s time for our weekend feature where we want to hear from you! Following a jam-packed Partner Preview on Thursday from Xbox there are a couple of new surprise additions to Game Pass as well as some great things coming up in the near future. As usual, we will give you the rundown on what the team has been up to this week, and there’s a poll further down this article so you can vote. We want to know – what are you playing this weekend?

Jon (Sikamikanico):

What are you playing this weekend?

I’ve gotta admit, I’ve been dabbling this week. So buckle up for a whirlwind tour of lots of different things I’ve been dipping my toes into!

First, I’ve been playing a little bit of Sektori, a Geomtry Wars Style twin-stick shooter that is slick to look at with a surprising amount of depth and a thumping soundtrack. Performance is great on console, but a bit wobbly on my ROG Xbox Ally X, so I’m hoping for further patches to make this a handheld go-to.

I’ve also dived straight in to both Dave The Diver on Xbox (Play Anywhere) which is a wonderful handheld experience, and surprisingly addictive. I haven’t read anything about it, taking Jesse’s advice to go in blind. I’ve also been playing a little bit of Clover Pit, and while I get the vibe – it’s sort of if Inscryption had a baby with Balatro in terms of tone – it’s not quite hooked me yet.

Kat and I are also a bit hooked on Dispatch, which is in some ways, is not really a game, but more an interactive TV show. It’s still cool, funny and deeply engaging. Definitely worth a look if you’ve got a PC or a PS5 to hand.

After years of speculation, longing and impatient waiting, Dave the Diver is finally on Xbox. I dove back in for a review with the PC version and have since put a few hours in on Xbox. Dave the Diver is a mix of relaxing scuba diving to get fish for your sushi restaurant, and about 50 other genres of games. Seriously, this game is massive, and amazing. Chill music accompanies you through funny stories, and dozens of carrots on sticks. I cannot recommend it enough, and at $20 there are few better ways to spend your hard earned cash.

I’ve been playing an assortment of stuffs lately, but one game I’ve found myself coming back to a bit more is Wuthering Waves. Between my sessions of review games and when I’m out and about, WuWa scratches the fun action combat itch that no other mobile game really pulls off. Besides there being proper strafing, multiple combo paths, and unique enemy types around every corner—this all works really well off a touch screen! Controller support is available, too, which means I have all the more reason to carry my GameSir around. It’s not as polished as some of its contemporaries and honestly, the story is rather nonsensical. But the visuals and music (especially the vocal tracks!) are great and each character that gets added to the game adds a new way to play. It’s a lot of fun, especially for a free game!

My free time has been quite lacking this week, as I’m moving to a brand new house! However, I did try to wind down on some evenings by continuing the multiplayer grind on Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7. As I said in my review, it’s my favourite Call of Duty in many years, and I can’t see myself dropping it for quite some time. Even Nuketown 2025 is back, by now!

And now it’s your turn. Please vote in our poll and let us know what you are up to this weekend!

Like a lot of people: I will play a lot of Silent Hill 2 Remake on Xbox this weekend. I’ve never really played it, but followed the series for a long time. I even watched and really liked the movie from 2006, but it’s nice finally getting to play this masterpiece in this new more palatable form.

Definitely some Powerwash 2 while listening to some music. Kingdom Come Deliverance will take up most of my gaming time and with brother we’ll start with Dying Light The Beast in co-op.

    Maybe some Mafia ToC too.

  3. Still playing Arc Raiders. 120+ hours into the game. Maxed out my character level at 75 and maxed out all the workbenches. Just need to find the 50 or so missing blueprints.

One Piece Pirate Warriors 4. Lord I have a hate-hate relationship there. It’s such a downgrade from PW3 for me (so many of my favorite characters missing and my favorite features gone), but there’s a new update with a new mission ranking and reward for getting 100 of those, so here I go I guess. I was actually surprised to see that I have a 100% achievements on PW4. And then I realized there’s no new achievements for this latest update or any of the dlc. I swear they’re so lazy with the game

  5. DRGS run, work on the factory, DRGS run, work on the factory. This is my life right now.

Maybe more interesting if I share what I’m thinking about playing soon. Want to try the new cod. never played the campaign on the last one and heard it was great so may do that first so my hard drive isn’t overflowing with cod campaigns.

  6. Are you playing alone or in a group? I’m intrigued by this game due to Jon’s review but I like to play games alone.

  7. 100% solo. No mic. I would say that at least 8 out of 10 players I come across are cool when I say “don’t shoot”. Every once in a while, I’ll get an asshole who lies about that or just flat out comes right at me. I’ll sometimes have guys shoot me from behind like cowards but the percentage is very low. I had one guy when I was carrying a field crate to the field station and face to face at least started shooting me. Luckily, I was able to run away, regroup, heal up and take him out.

Here’s what makes me playing Arc Raiders so shocking and amazing - im not an online gamer and have never played against other players in any game until now. It’s not for me. But everything in Arc Raiders appeals to me and being able to play solo, having no mic and still being able to enjoy the game is literally a first for me.

The first ten hours or so will be hard solo because you’re looking to upgrade your workbenches, complete some quests and level up. But once you get going and have some really good runs, it becomes very addictive to where you don’t want to stop playing. Or at least, I don’t.

If you have any other questions, just ask.

  8. Great info. Thanks for all that detail. I think I’ll give it a whirl. At $30 not much to lose.

  9. I’m working on the Xbox 360 anniversary event at TA. Call of Duty Classic, Torchlight, and Lego Star Wars.
