‘ARMATUS’ is a New Third-Person Roguelite Shooter coming to Xbox Game Pass

Today during the Xbox Partner Preview, we got our first look at ARMATUS, a new ‘third-person roguelite shooter’ from Counterplay Games and Publisher Fictions. Check out the swanky trailer below!

‘ARMATUS’ is a New Third-Person Roguelite Shooter coming to Xbox Game Pass

Per the developers, “In ARMATUS, you are a supernatural warrior who combines modern weapons and celestial abilities to fight the demonic hordes that rule the world.” (I love it when a game is nice and straightforward, don’t you?)

The trailer certainly impresses, and we get our first look at the protagonist battling all sorts of demons in the ruins of Paris with some cool looking guns and some even cooler looking powers. The roguelite element will come in to play, as you’re summoned again and again to fight and overcome increasingly difficult beasties.

Per Ming Zhang, Studio Head at Counterplay Games – “With ARMATUS, we wanted our gameplay to be a blend of modern firearms and supernatural powers, plus a little melee for good measure. By layering in  dynamic build choices for each run, we’ve created the frenetic, hyperkinetic combat that really defines our gameplay.”

ARMATUS is releasing at some point in 2026, and will be available day one with Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Xbox Cloud. It will also be available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 & Nintendo Switch 2.
