Over on the Sims Community website, the publication has been compiling a set of rumours that point to publisher Electronic Arts and longtime ‘The Sims’ developer Maxis working on a remaster of their long and ongoing life simulation title ‘The Sims 4’.
The Sims 4 Remastered appears to be built off Project Rene’s engine (the future up-and-coming The Sims title slated for PCs and mobile devices), bringing some modern amenities to the ancient game such as open neighbourhoods, enhanced graphics, and an emphasis on the simulation aspects of the Sims that 4 sorely lacked in. This appears to be its own separate “base”, so to speak, so how players previously purchased content will transfer to the game (if at all) remains to be seen. Project Rene also appears to be going through another round of player testing, so keep an eye out on EA’s playtest site here to potentially sign up for a round yourself.
I highly suggest checking out the article for yourself here, but otherwise know that The Sims 4 is available across PC/Mac and consoles as a free-to-play title (with plenty of content packs to purchase).
