Back in 2020, we announced a Kickstarter for a book. At first, a simple venture into book publishing, ended up turning in a 2+ year saga as we dealt with pandemics, global conflicts and on a personal level, massive life changing upheavals. Now, five years later, the book is heading to retail – Xbox: The Console & The Games is available – right now!

We’d seen the constant demands for an opportunity to get hold of a copy of our first ever Kickstarter, Celebrating 20 Years of Xbox, and we felt awful that we don’t have the means to bring it to people on a large scale – even our ill-fated “second-print run” was a unsuccessful – people just don’t like the extra barrier of creating a Kickstarter account. We get it.

Now, thanks to the very cool folks at Book Publisher Pen & Sword/White Owl, a new, retail release of our book is available for preorder. Renamed to “Xbox: The Console and The Games“, this new version contains all the contents of the original, with a brand new cover from our amazing art and design lead, Predrag.

You can also pick it up here via Amazon UK or here via Amazon US.

Stuck on this god-forsaken island. Father of two, wishes he could play more games but real life always gets in the way. Prefers shorter and often smarter experiences, but Halo is King.

  1. I thought it was a Xbox laptop or Xbox notebook . I actually could go for something like that with the controller.

  2. Hello, Jon.

This is incredible news and a massive win for game preservation. The original Xbox library is filled with so many unique and foundational titles that have been stuck on aging hardware for too long. Seeing Jet Set Radio Future and the Project Gotham Racing series get a new lease on life is a dream come true.

My question: Are these releases straight emulation, or have there been any enhancements for modern hardware, like higher resolutions, improved frame rates, or achievements? Specifically, how are they handling the licensed soundtracks for games like JSRF and SSX 3 which have been a major hurdle in the past?

  3. I thought they was re-releasing the original Xbox console with all games built in..That would be excellent..💯
