As we approach the anniversary of the Xbox 360, which celebrates being 20 years old this month, we’re all looking back rather fondly at one of the greatest video game consoles of all time. It’s certainly one of the high points in Xbox history. On social media this weekend, Xbox Live’s Major Nelson, aka Larry Hryb, shared some new images of his rare Xbox 360 ‘Launch Console’ for the first time.
Later this month marks the 20th anniversary of kicking off the HD era with the launch of Xbox 360. Helping build, ship and launch this console was one of the most magical professional moments of my career.

Sharing the images in a post on social media, Larry Hryb reminisced on the Xbox 360 anniversary, saying “Later this month marks the 20th anniversary of kicking off the HD era with the launch of Xbox 360. Helping build, ship and launch this console was one of the most magical professional moments of my career.
Here, for the first time…are photos of my launch console that each team member received as a thank you.
Fun fact: I have NEVER turned this console on.“

We’ve embedded the console images in a gallery for you to gawk over, and it certainly brings back some incredible memories for us, in what for many ol’ grey beards like us was the beginning of a golden age in home console gaming – despite the reliability of the console itself.
When asked by a fan on Twitter as to what game Larry would have played first on it, Larry had one simple answer – “Hexic!”
