ARC Raiders has been nothing sort of a smash hit, but as players have started to put more time in to the game, there are some systems that have left players a little confused. Between Expeditions, Trials and the hunt for very comfortable pillows, the team at Embark have surfaced to share a little detail on how Trials work, and just why you’d want to be at the top of those leader-boards at the end of the season.
So How do ARC Raiders ‘Trials’ work, exactly?

Alright, so here’s the deal. ‘Trials’ is a feature that unlocks for you when you hit level 15 in ARC Raiders. Suddenly, there’s an entirely new section of ranks for you to grind towards, tasking you with a variety of objectives. From damaging specific ARC units, to searching supply drops, the game is tracking everything you do.
Per a new post on social media from Embark, the team have now clarified exactly how it works, saying, “Progress only counts per single surface raid you safely extract from, numbers don’t add up across multiple raids. For example, to complete “Damage Hornets”, you’ll need to deal 4000 damage to those pesky ARC units in one single surface scuffle.“

As each Trials is season-based, the rewards you earn will be granted to you based on your final rank. The team are planning to add additional clarification in-game to this system, so players aren’t left searching the internet for answers.
I rated ARC Raiders rather highly in my review-in-progress, and the more time I’ve spent in the game, only sees the likelihood of that score increasing. In my initial thoughts, I said “ARC Raiders walks a fine balance. It’s an extraction shooter seemingly purpose-built for the hardcore players, yet is surprisingly accessible, whether you’re playing with friends or going out there solo. It’s thematically dystopian, yet utterly beautiful to look at, full of bright splashes of colour and a cohesive overall design. It can be tense, thrilling, and downright terrifying, but it is also filled with surprisingly sweet and endearing moments with the sort of random, social interaction I’ve not enjoyed since the early days of Sea of Thieves. This is ARC Raiders, and it’s just the beginning. It’s one of the best multiplayer games of the year, standing toe to toe with the giants in the genre. I’ll see you topside.“
