Very pretty looking anime racer Screamer is rushing towards the finish line, and developer Milestone has now shared some more detail around this aesthetically pleasing arcade racer.
Screamer is set to release at some point in 2026, and while we haven’t got a date just yet, it’s certainly looking very slick indeed. In the new video shared by Milestone, Game Director Federico Cardini and Creative and Development Director Michele Caletti shared details on just what the game is, and how it works.

Per the developers, Screamer is an arcade racing game fueled by ‘brand new gameplay mechanics’, which they detail in the video above. One of them is a system called Eco – it allows players to gain two different types of energy – ‘Sync’ and ‘Entropy’. ‘Sync’ is gained via doing things throughout the race, like slipstreaming behind your opponent, or performing an ‘active shift’. This means pressing a button just when your vehicle engine’s RPM is at just the right point. If you have enough ‘Sync’, you can boost. While boosting is fairly normal fare for an arcade racing game, the team at Milestone have added neat timing mechanics to it, so you’ll have to be on the ball and nail that timing in order to get the best out of it. There are also shields, which can be used tactically, because you can get knocked out, Burnout-style in this game.

While you’re earning all that Sync energy by being in time with the feel of the race, you’ll also build up ‘Entropy’, another key resource. You have various actions like Strike – a short powerful boost of speed, meaning you can knock another player out of the race if you hit them just right, performing a KO. Then there’s the ultimate ‘overdrive’ ability, which makes you even faster, has a temporary shield and you can knock players out too…but watch out. When that shield runs out, if you hit a wall…BOOM.
Screamer is scheduled for release on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S consoles in 2026.
While the footage is very much work-in-progress, it is certainly looking very cool indeed. Are you interested in Screamer?
