When it comes to missions, eight new sectors have been added – think of them as new maps – are now available in the game. They’ve also adjusted things a bit so that short, medium and long duration missions are available for all mission types, so there’s a bit more variety there.

Sector Modifiers are also being introduced, a sectors can spawn different modifiers that will introduce new challenges and rewards, so that selecting your path through to the end of the mission will be a little more interesting. The eight modifiers being added are: Materia Remnants, Ion Rift, High Legion Presence, Weapon Stash, Incoming Legion Ships, Materia Distruption Field, Supply Beacon and Unknown Threat.

Next up, melee weapons! The Wrench, Crowbar and Heatblade are all being added to the game, and obviously, don’t use ammunition. They do a lot more damage than straight up punching something, and you can even block attacks with them to a degree – the new Heatblade is particularly good at this.

In other changes, the Dart, a smaller ship for smaller squads or solo players has seen some updates that make it easier to get around on during the heat of battle. There’s also a Halloween themed event, tasking players with collecting pumpkins during missions. Collect enough, and you can unlock a Jack’O’Lantern cosmetic.
