On the official Xbox Podcast this week, the lovely Jeff Rubenstein sat down with folks from Team Ninja and PlatinumGames to talk Ninja Gaiden 4. Outside of discussing difficulty, accessibility and how the game plays on the ROG Xbox Ally, the team also revealed the existence of new single player DLC already planned for the game. Let’s take a look at the Ninja Gaiden 4 ‘The Two Masters’ DLC coming in 2026.
Despite not even having been released yet, the team behind Ninja Gaiden 4 are already working hard on the first DLC for the game, titled ‘The Two Masters’. This content will have have a new story, set after the events of the base game, and will be playable from the perspective of both Yakumo and Ryu. There is also mention of new weapons for both these characters, which lean in to their personalities. Yakumo’s is more expressive, whereas Ryu’s weapon is a precise tool, with precision and speed capabilities. Both of these new weapons will have what was described on the show as “a plethora of new mechanics” to master. You can check out the whole Xbox Podcast here.
Aside from weapons and story content, the team are also introducing a new ‘post-game challenge’ which is completely separate from the Ninja Trials in the base game. It sounds like there is a lot to look forward to coming up and we are still two weeks away from the launch of the actual title – It’s October 21st, in case you’d forgotten.
Our editor-in-chief Jon had a hands-on preview of Ninja Gaiden 4 a couple of months ago and had this to say about it “Ninja Gaiden 4 packs some serious punch with a fresh take on the franchise, packed with new mechanics and a whole heap of challenge. There’s more story to discover, and we still don’t truly know how Ryu will fit into all this. Either way, it seems you can teach an old Ninja Dog new tricks after all.” You can read his article here.
