Yet another indie bullet heaven sensation is taking the world by storm, climbing among multi-million dollar AAA productions on the Steam charts. With other similarly viral games hitting Microsoft’s consoles already, one question arises. Is Megabonk on Xbox?
The Vampire Survivors craze inspired countless developers to try their own take on the pretty new bullet heaven genre. Maybe call them survivors-like or auto-shooters. But chances are, you’ve played some addictive rounds of Brotato before. You may have ventured into the depths of Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, a stellar spin-off to another indie sensation. We even had completely new genre mash-ups, such as the excellent FPS bullet heaven Vampire Hunters. All of these are on Xbox, too, so it makes sense that Megabonk would also be there.
Megabonk itself is quite the genre mash-up, as it trades the traditional top-down view for third person 3D action. Players can jump and slide around at high speed, as they have to navigate arenas with a lot of verticality. It’s quite a blast, and our very Jesse has been streaming it on our channels. The addictive gameplay and the nostalgic low-poly graphics already have us under Megabonk‘s spell! This indie sensation is, however, only on Steam at the time of this writing, with no Xbox or other console ports to date. Developer vedinad, however, hasn’t ruled out the idea of a console port in the future. To a question on Discord about potential console versions, vedinad replied:
Maybe? I think porting it can be a bit time consuming though, I also don’t know anything about it
