There’s a faint smell of Pumpkin Spice in the air and everything in the shops seems to be turning orange and black, which can only mean one thing. October is here, and with that a whole menagerie of new releases onto our favourite platform. And as we are such a helpful bunch here at XboxEra, we’ve compiled a complete list of every game coming to Xbox Game Pass this October, just for you.
Little Rocket Lab (October 7th)
From development team Teenage Astronauts and publishers No More Robots, Little Rocket Lab is a cosy factory-building game where you play as Morgan, building and restoring your childhood hometown and eventually an actual rocket ship. Little Rocket Lab’ will launch on PC via Steam/Xbox PC and Xbox consoles (Play Anywhere supported) on 7 October—launching Day One on Xbox Game Pass.
Sopa – Tale of the Stolen Potato (October 7th)
From indie team Studio Bando comes Sopa – Tale of the Stolen Potato. Per the team – “When Miho steps into the pantry to get a potato for his grandmothers’ soup, he’s suddenly pulled into a distant fantastical land where he must retrace the steps of a mysterious great traveller before him. He must venture through a world of endless deserts, floating mountains, and talking beasts, outsmarting thieves and meeting quirky characters along the way. But each time he returns to the kitchen with an ingredient, things have changed in unexpected ways… SOPA is a tale about family, adventure, and the things we pass along to future generations, comforting like the first sip of hot soup on a cold day and vital as an ancient memory.” Sopa releases on Xbox Series X|S and PC on October 7th.
Ball X Pit (October 15th)
Devolver Digital are releasing Ball X Pit, a brick-breaking roguelite complete with base-building and survival thrown in for good measure. The developer Kenny Sun had this to say about it “BALL x PIT sees you batter hordes of enemies with an oral barrage of esoteric projectiles that can be evolved, upgraded and combined to create all manner of overpowered synergies. Gather the riches of the pit to expand your homestead, generate resources and recruit unique heroes.” Ball X Pit releases day one on Xbox Game Pass on October 15th.
Pax Dei (October 16th)
This vast social sandbox MMO has been in early access since June and the full release is coming to PC Game Pass on October 16th. A subscription based title, Pax Dei sees players building homes, setting up markets and crafting stories, all within a magical realm. Customers who have already been playing Pax Dei in Early Access will be able to play the 1.0 version two days ahead of the launch on October 14th.
Keeper (October 17th)
Doublefine’s surreal title is coming to Cloud, Console and PC on October 17th. Our editor-in-chief Jon sat down with developer Tim Schafer earlier in the year, and he had this to say about Keeper “It’s a surprisingly emotional story. The bond between the Lighthouse and Twig will make you think about companionship and friendship – you can tell that they care about each other, and that all comes up through the animation and the visual storytelling.“
Ninja Gaiden 4 (October 21st)
The latest title in the Ninja Gaiden franchise is due for release on October 21st on Cloud, Console and PC. Jon had a hands-on with the game in August and summed it up by saying “Gameplay is king, and right now, Ninja Gaiden 4 packs some serious punch with a fresh take on the franchise, packed with new mechanics and a whole heap of challenge. There’s more story to discover, and we still don’t truly know how Ryu will fit into all this. Either way, it seems you can teach an old Ninja Dog new tricks after all.“
Bounty Star (October 23rd)
Bounty Star is a combination of farming, mech combat and base-building from the team at DINOGOD. We had a hands on preview in June and had this to say about it: ” if what I played keeps up throughout the 12 or so hour playtime of the game, then we’re all in for another great Game Pass get and a must play game for any mech or farming sim fans.” Bounty Star is coming to Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC on October 23rd.
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault (October 23rd)
The original Moonlighter released in 2018 and now fans of the game can expect the sequel later this month. Similar to the first title, players will complete roguelite combat missions under the cover of darkness to obtain items for sale during the day. The team at Digital Sun had this to say about it “As you venture into the unknown, you’ll clash with fearsome foes and gather precious loot in sprawling, dynamic dungeons. Take risks and reap rewards with the game’s new layer of tactical depth—inventory management is no longer just about saving space. Relics carry special properties, adding tension and strategy to every expedition.” Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault is coming to PC via game preview on October 23rd. A console launch is expected with the 1.0 release.
Super Fantasy Kingdom (October 24th)
From the team at Hooded Horse: “Rebuild your kingdom while fending off hordes of monsters that attack your gates every night. Should your city fall and the forces of darkness sweep across the land, you will awaken to begin a new run where you carry forward the rewards of prior attempts!” Super Fantasy Lingdom releases on PC via Game Preview on October 24th.
The Outer Worlds 2 (October 29th)
After trying out The Outer Worlds 2 earlier this year, our reviews editor Jesse had this to say: “The Outer Worlds 2 feels, looks, and sounds better than the original game, which I enjoyed, in every way. This prologue sets up an intriguing mystery based around the game’s skip-drive technology.” Obsidian’s latest release is highly anticipated and arrives on Xbox Series X|S, PC and cloud services on October 29th.
