Battlefield 6 pre-load is up on Xbox Series X|S & it’s setup like COD HQ

The pre-load for Battlefield 6 is up on Xbox Series X|S, and the install size is both large and interesting in how it is set up.

Battlefield 6 Pre-load Xbox Series X|S

The pre-load for Battlefield 6 is now available on Xbox Series consoles. As you can see in the image above, it weighs in at a hefty 72.5 GB at the time of this reporting. What I found more interesting is the image below:

Battlefield 6 is broken up into the following download chunks:

  • Battlefield 6 -Multiplayer 5.7 GB
  • Battlefield 6 – Multiplayer HD 25.6 GB
  • Battlefield 6 – Single Player 15.0 GB
  • Battlefield 6 – Single Player HD 32.9 GB
  • Battlefield Multiplayer HD Marker 23.8 GB
  • Battlefield Multiplayer Marker 2.2 GB

This is the type of setup that Call of Duty tried using with Call of Duty HQ (and still does to an extent). Is this an indicator of new releases joining this launcher, allowing you to uninstall previous versions SP and MP separately in the future?

Call of Duty HQ still houses the last few Call of Duty releases, but has recently removed the earlier Modern Warfare reboots and set them back up as their own installs. The download and patching process was poor in Call of Duty’s version of this system. Will Electronic Arts, which has recently announced it will go private after being purchased, have a better setup? Only time will tell.

Keep an eye on XboxEra as we should have review coverage of both the Battlefield 6 Single Player Campaign and Multiplayer at some point close to or after launch.
