Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Yakuza 3 Gaiden: Dark Ties Announced

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio held a summit as part of their Tokyo Game Show proceedings, and to the delight of Yakuza fans everywhere, had a few exciting announcements to share. Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Yakuza 3 Gaiden: Dark Ties have been announced, and they’re coming sooner than you’d think!

Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Yakuza 3 Gaiden: Dark Ties Announced

As per usual, RGG’s livestream went very well for Yakuza fans, and as with previous Kiwami games, Yakuza Kiwami 3 is being remade from the ground up in RGG’s ‘Dragon Engine’, rather than being a mere remaster of the original 2009 release. That means entirely new visuals, across the board in addition to new gameplay features too.

Equally, the team have also included ‘Yakuza 3 Gaiden: Dark Ties’, an entirely separate game that will be packaged alongside Yakuza Kiwami 3 which tells a brand new stand alone story. Here, you’ll follow the original games main villain in a prequel of sorts.

In other news, the team at RGG are also releasing Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut (previously a Switch 2 launch exclusive) as well as Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and Steam. The existing Steam versions of Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 will be receiving updated language support. So that’s nice.
